3-Step guide to a perfect lie
You read the title, you know why you’re here.
Let’s get to it.
Actually hold up a min, this 3-step plan has a few prerequisites.
Firstly, you have to use some common sense. If you were home alone and a chocolate disappeared from the fridge…
Pal, that’s gonna be tough to lie your way out of this.
Common sense will be required for you to make a cohesive lie.
Second (and most important), this will not work if you already have a reputation of being a chronic liar.
You could use a 10-step plan, and chances are - people will not believe you anyway.
Alright, if you passed: let’s actually get to it
It’s, not a lie - it is an enhanced reality. A new truth.
It’s maybe the most well known tip for lying - Mix in a little truth. Well I say, you want to mix in a lot of truth.
Add real events, a real timeline, real elements.
You’ll want to mix the truth and the lie so damn well that god himself would not be able to separate them from each other.
The goal of a lie is to craft a story that, not only works in your favor, but one that holds.
You want it to feel real. Sure there are some bits of your story that feels odd to the other person and that’s fine because
“The truth is rarely pure and never simple”
You want to make sure that the truth you added throws some dirt on you
Something that will make them think “wow if they were lying why wouldn’t they just make a better story where they are squeaky clean”
You ate 10 marshmallows from the box? Well when they asked say you ate only 2.
Why on earth would you say you had two marshmallows when you are trying to convince someone you didn’t finish the box.
Step one is add in a lot of truth, raw and real truth.
Believe your new reality (Your lie)
Because it is an enhanced reality, you can (and have to) believe it wholeheartedly from top to bottom.
They say that when someone lies, they give too many details to try and make their story add up.
If you truly believe it, you will not attempt to convince the other person that your story is the real course of event.
You know it is the real course of events and you will say it as it is.
Are you following me here?
Think of it this way: Your story will make sense if you followed step 1.
And if it does not make any sense, well it DOES NOT MATTER.
It is what happened. It is my truth.
Remember “The truth is rarely pure and never simple”. If you have common sense and you did step one, your story will make sense and you will have to embrace it as your new reality
Step two is to believe your lie
You NEVER back down from a lie
Now this is what separate the good from the great . You NEVER back down from a lie.
NEVER.
I took time to get used to this one, especially since I have a horrible poker face… But let me tell you a story
Once my dad told my mom someone passed away and guess what: a couple weeks later my mom nearly fainted seeing that person walking the face on the earth still!
My mom furious at my chronic liar that my dad is go and ask him wtf?
My dad never, not even once, considered that he was lying.
He acted surprised, gaslighted my mom, blamed the person that told him and appeared to be as shocked as my mom.
He got away with that lie - or at least the benefit of the doubt triumphed.
He did the impossible only by standing his ground.
Now to this day I still don’t know if it was a lie or an honest mistake, I only believe it is a lie cuz my dad didn’t meet the prerequisite: he is a chronic liar
Step three is that you never back down from a lie. You re-invent, you dig yourself deeper and you keep repeating step one and two.
And only then you might get away
That’s the end of your 3-step guide to a lie. Use these superpower with caution and as I like to say:
Someone who can keep a secret is wise. But someone who has none is twice as much.
