All or nothing?
The feminist who taught me to not settle for less

Antigone, the Theban princess and a character in several ancient Greek tragedies.
Antigone.
Yup that’s the feminist who forced me to change my vision of what I want.
I will be talking about Jean Anouilh’s rewriting of the play, which can you can read the summary over here. But I wanna go straight to business. So here’s the take.
Antigone refuse to settle for the happy little life of doing some compromises. Taking only little bits of pleasures out of life. She said fuck that, I want everything. All of it or Id rather die.
Here’s some snippets of her conversation with the king:
“What kind of happiness do you foresee for me? Paint me the picture of you happy Antigone. What are the unimportant little sins that I shall have to commit before I am allowed to sink my teeth into life and tear happiness from it? … ”
“You tell me that life is so wonderful. I want to know what I have to do in order to be able to say that to myself”
That’s Antigone right there.
In context, she’s a badass - She’s defying the king and saying no to the nice traditional life planned for her.
Out of context, she’s even more of a fucking badass. She truly stands for what she believes in and refuses to take less than that. Even if that’s nothing at all.
This mentality a little like horse betting, If you’re wrong you’re an absolute fool for even believing in this for a single min. But if you’re right, you’re the golden goose, the smartest person in the room.
Antigone wanted everything or nothing. While some might call it naivety, it’s what’s every successful person do, they reject mediocrity.
Most really successful and wealthy people said no to the decent paying job, and the decent life and in search of more.
They do not settle for the little 3% raise annually but instead want to create a business system that will give them a 1000% return on their time.
An alpinist would rather die at 30 under an avalanche rather than die at 90 but never have been able to get to the peak he dreamt of. Why? because in the first scenario he died while at the pursuit of his dream
A revolutionist would rather die standing up than live on his knees
The examples are endless but the message is the same. Play the game and play it hard. also, it is important to be a little delusional.
Yes Antigone died alone in a ditch but if we are still talking about her, that means she accomplished her goal right?
She for sure inspired me to rebel against the status quo, so I’d take that as a win for her.
