Damien's Blog

I'm starting a blog!

I thought about this moment a lot. I fantasized what I would say to the world. And how it would feel to back at this as the first blog post 10 years from now. That made me anxious and I procrastinated a lot to start this blog. Excuses always piled up: I won’t have time, I don’t have money for hosting and a domain, bla bla this bla bla that.

The truth is, it will never be the right time. So here goes nothing.

How I got the push to start:

I created an account on a blogging platform I heard about on a podcast with the hope that I will gather the motivation to make use of it someday.` Then followed a conversation with a friend who wanted to start a photography Instagram account and she shared me her fears. While convincing her how she has nothing to lose and everything to gain from doing it, I realized I wasn’t following my own advice… All I had to do was just start my own project.

Why am I doing this:

1) I’ve always seen myself as somewhat of a creative person. Someone that create stuff - No not an artist but simply a creator. I always had that feeling inside me: my voice wanted to be heard. I would argue I have original thoughts at times, but rarely articulate them and share them to the world (which is a real waste). I could have inspired people or on a selfish note, become a much better creator. I don’t want to wake up being 60 years old and be a creative person that has never done anything creative.

2) The best way for me to “find the others” is to put myself out there (The others are people with similar interest, path or journey as me). More exposure means more chances at meeting amazing people. Bonus points: If I want to meet someone great, I can ask “Hey can I interview you for my vlog and share your amazing knowledge to the world” instead of “Hey can I meet you to have a chat and to benefit me and only me” This is my medium of finding great people.

3) I’m taking a gap year and for the first time ever since I joined kindergarten that I will be spending my time without any formal education. I need to keep on educating myself, keep my mind sharp and produce original knowledge and keep on learning.

What’s Next:

This blog will likely be me dissecting my business ventures, using it as my personal diaries, and commentaries of concepts I saw in a YouTube short and contemporary world issues. This may be the start to my content empire or just practice for my future college essays.
